How Do I Get The Job?

Jump to parent tip

Getting started on your job search can seem scary and a little overwhelming. It doesn't have to be. If you're well prepared, you'll feel more confident to present yourself to potential employers. Here are some tips on how to write a resume, how to act during a job interview, and whether you should talk about your disability.

For Parents
Searching for that first job can be overwhelming for your son or daughter. As a parent, you can help with the process by providing him or her with opportunities to practice and prepare well in advance. Help your son or daughter write resumes and cover letters that showcase his or her abilities and strengths. If you practice interviewing and discussing their disability at home, they'll be less nervous when they get to the interview.
